Neighbors educating neighbors. Holding power accountable. Building democracy from the ground up.
In December 2023, inspired by Red Wine & Blue, a group of Western North Carolinians decided their community needed informed, organized neighbors who would show up for each other. Not wait for someone else to fix things. Show up themselves.
We've rallied thousands, traveled to DC, walked into senators' offices, and brought constitutional literacy to our neighbors one speaker series at a time. This is what democracy looks like when it's built from the bottom up.
Our Affiliates
Good Trouble WNC is an affiliate of both Red Wine & Blue and Indivisible — two of the most effective grassroots movements in the country.
Red Wine & Blue is a national sisterhood of over half a million women working to defeat extremism one friend at a time. Their model is built on a simple truth: talking to people you know is more effective than any door knock or phone bank. When we became part of the Red Wine & Blue network, we gained access to their training, tools, and a community of women across the country who are doing exactly what we're doing — showing up, building power locally, and changing the world together.
Indivisible is a nationwide movement of everyday people organizing in all 50 states to stop the rise of authoritarianism and demand a democracy that works for all of us. Founded by former congressional staffers who understood firsthand how grassroots pressure shapes political outcomes, Indivisible connects local groups like ours to strategic coordination, research, and national campaigns. Because some fights are bigger than Western North Carolina — and when we act together, we are indivisible.
Monthly speaker series bringing constitutional literacy, critical thinking, and civic knowledge directly to our community. What you learn here, you carry into every conversation and decision.
Strategic action — from bridge brigades to DC trips to accountability visits with elected officials. When representatives won't hold town halls, we find them wherever they are.
Mutual aid for neighbors targeted by government actions. We show up for each other. That's not political — that's what community means.
In today's climate, trolling and disruption is a distraction, and we are putting our attention to results, not reaction. Membership keeps event locations, organizing details, and your participation inside a private community — not visible to the public or bad-faith actors.
Good Trouble WNC runs on neighbor power — not corporate donors or outside money. Your support funds speaker series, advocacy work, and mutual aid for neighbors who need it most.
